4. Browser Storage Used by Search
The AI-assisted search stores a local session identifier (`discovery_session`) and a device identifier (`peninsula_device_fp`) in localStorage. The device identifier is converted on the server into a secret-scoped SHA-256 value for the daily abuse-prevention limit; the original identifier is not stored in our database. They are not cookies and are not used for advertising. You can remove them through your browser’s site-data controls; the limit may then use your IP address instead.
